The Coorparoo Football Club was first formed in 1935 with our first team competing in the Under 16 competition. In 1937, after two reasonably successful seasons, we merged with the South Brisbane Football Club. Two of our junior teams claimed premiership honours in 1946 and 1948.

 

Both the junior and senior teams competed with varying success throughout the 1950s before the club claimed its first senior premiership in 1960. The 1960s would prove to be a golden era for the Roos, playing in seven grand finals and winning four premierships.

 

The 1970s was defined by the elevation of the junior club. With player numbers on the rise, the club was able to field many outstanding junior teams with many going on to claim premiership success. The other notable moment of significance was in 1971, when our home ground, Giffin Park, was procured.

 

The A grade seniors featured on the premiership dais again in 1984 and for a final time in 1986. The Senior Club was reinvigorated as the Coorparoo Kings in 1996, and although a separate club from the Juniors, we continue to work closely together to uphold our traditions and transition our youth into senior levels.

 

Throughout the following 30 years, CJAFC continued to grow from strength to strength, and in the process, has become one of the strongest and largest junior clubs in Queensland.

 

Now with more than 800 members, CJAFC is a vital part of Queensland’s rich football tapestry.
